Summer Reading for 8th graders

Assignment:  Independent novel study.  

• Create a total of 6 novel abstracts (1 abstract for each 50 pages read)
• The final product should be between 6 to 10 pages longhand.
• Divide and label each section so that it corresponds with each 50 page section of the novel. 
• Each abstract must contain the following elements:
  • a summary of the major events
  • a commentary of your own connections, insights, predictions, and other thoughts concerning your independent study of this text.
• You will need to read 20-30 pages a week in order to complete this extended novel by Monday, August 29th (the first of Induction at Mondamin)
