FBRA "Rocks" out and prepares palates for Costa Rica!

This past Wednesday, students capped off their recent science unit on rocks and minerals by visiting the

Colburn Earth Science Museum  and participated in a geologoy presentation (see video).  Students then enjoyed lunch at downtown restaurant Havana.  The chef prepared a typical Costa Rican meal consisting of chicken, rice, beans, and plantains as part of preparations for their upcoming international field-lesson to Costa Rica in February.  Students then continued with their "rock" theme day by doing some indoor rock-climbing for physical education requirements and team-building.

FBRA concluded the day with a tour of the NC State University Minerals Research Lab  where they viewed the process for separating minerals from rocks (see video).
