Math@FBRA

The math program at FBRA is led by Frazier Worth.  The goal of the math program is to help students become competent, confident, self-reliant learners.  Math at FBRA is based on the Saxon Math curriculum.  It is self-paced and designed to allow each student to work at a challenging but comfortable pace.
Generally, each class day begins with a group activity such as a mental math game, special Mathcounts or Sunshine problems, computer math or occasionally math Poker.  Following this introductory activity, students begin individual work on their Saxon Lesson.
Grades are based on tests each student takes after every five lessons.  There is math homework about one night per week.
6th grade is fundamental math, 7th grade is pre-algebra, and 8th grade studies algebra.
Students may work at a faster pace and study geometry in the 8th grade.
