Andrew Holcombe-Math and Science InternAfter leading whitewater trips for FRBA last fall, Andrew is excited for the opportunity to join the Team in the classroom. This spring he’ll start teaching at FBRA as the Math and Science Intern. He will also continue to lead Wednesday field outings.
Andrew attended Virginia Tech and received a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with minors in Biology, Spanish and Religion (with a focus in religious conflict areas). Since graduating he has worked as a kayak instructor at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Team Manager for the professional kayak team at Dagger Kayaks, head kayak coach and US Government teacher at World Class Kayak Academy and led international kayak trips to Mexico and Costa Rica with his wife.
Andrew and his wife Anna Andrew has also kayaked professionally for 15 years with top finishes in several freestyle events and extreme races including the Green River Narrows Race right here in Asheville. These adventures have taken him all over the world and to many amazing places. Now he’s happy to call Asheville home.
Andrew grew up in the mountains of WNC in Bryson City and has been an outdoor enthusiast from day one. He is looking forward to the chance to share this enthusiasm with everyone connected with FBRA and to apply the lessons he’s learned to the classroom.
